#5: Having Something to Look Forward To
The power of anticipation. It truly is remarkable. You could be having a rough week, but if you have fun weekend plans you can power through the drudgery.
Having something to look forward to gives me energy. It makes tedious tasks like doing my taxes, doing laundry, or preparing a speech for Toastmasters seem less difficult.
I make a strong effort to schedule things I truly enjoy. For me this is catching up with friends, traveling, talking to a close friend or family member, playing sports, checking out a new restaurant, or attending a sporting event. These things bring joy to me and I’ll be damned if I don’t allow myself to experience them frequently.
Overall, we need something to look forward to. Find something to make your future look a little brighter and happier – and relish in the excitement of good things to come!
