Begin by asking yourself two simple questions. This is recommended by the famed sleep doctor Matthew Walker, PhD, in his book Why We Sleep.

  1. Do I feel sleepy several hours after waking up in the morning?

*If the answer is “yes,” you are likely not getting sufficient sleep quantity and/or quality.

  1. Can I function optimally without caffeine before noon?

*If the answer is “no,” then you are most likely self-medicating your state of chronic sleep deprivation.
